Speaking during the signing ceremony at Phalula in Balaka on Tuesday, Balaka West independent candidate Lucy Tchale promised the youth that she will deliver on her promises.

“Through this MoU, I will ensure implementation of the issues concerning the youth in this constituency. Otherwise, this signing would not be in vain,” she said.

On his part, independent shadow councillor for Mulunguzi Ward, Verson Makanada, said the MoU will ensure that he fulfills his promises.

“The documents we have signed will definitely be a reminder to some of us to deliver the projects for the youth of this area,” he said.

The event was facilitated by Creative Centre for Community Mobilisation (Creccom).

The non-governmental organisation expects that whoever wins in the polls in the two constituencies will work towards fulfilling their manifesto, targeting the youth.

In an interview, Creccom programmes manager Linice Sanga said she is optimistic that with this arrangement of engaging aspirants to sign an MoU with the youths, change which will happen in the area will benefit young people.

“The winners will be asked to give a report on the progress of their projects every six months. Through this way, the youth will be able to hold them accountable,” she said.
