Banda to present Military Colours

Malawi President Joyce Banda is on Friday scheduled to launch the 11th battalion of the Malawi Defence Force (MDF) at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe. Banda, who is the Commander-in-Chief of the MDF, will present the colours to Chilumba Barracks based in Karonga. Mchinji needs place for prison

The Mchinji Court Users Committee (CUC) has agreed to meet chiefs in the district to choose an alternative place for the district’s prison as the proposed site continues to face challenges. Since the proposition in 2008 to have a prison in the district, members suggested a site in the area of Group Village Head (GVH) Eleven in Traditional Authority (T/A) Mlonyeni, but efforts are seemingly, futile as the chief has not given a go ahead to the council.—Mana
