A Big Bullets stakeholders meeting held on Sunday in Limbe, made pledges amounting to K5.5 million (US$13 158) to go towards buying four priority players ahead of the new season which starts on Saturday.

The players are striker Mussa Manyenje and defender Pilirani Zonda [Epac FC] as well as Blantyre United’s Victor Limbani (midfielder) and Tizgowere Kumwenda (striker).

According to Bullets general secretary Harold Fote, the pledges were made by members of the team’s board of trustees, executive and the main supporters committees.

“The meeting was arranged to discuss a variety of issues such as intensifying the hunt for sponsorship, prioritising players’ welfare by revising their monthly upkeep allowances and also tightening gate management system.

“So, the issue of players that we intend to sign also featured highly on the agenda and it was agreed that we contribute towards the cause,” said Fote.

He said the committee hunting for sponsorship is headed by Brian Ligomeka.

However, Epac FC director Dini Josaya-Banda yesterday described Bullets as lacking commitment on the deal involving Manyenje and Zonda.

The Epac owner said he is contemplating cancelling the deal. Epac are demanding K3.7 million (US$8 852) for the two players.

“I do not think these people [Bullets] are serious at all because today they say this and tomorrow they say that.

“The fact of the matter is that they do not have the money. For instance, as I am talking to you now, they have proposed that they make a K2 million (US$4 785) down-payment when recently they indicated that they would pay outright,” said Josaya-Banda.

He said by close of business yesterday, he would determine whether to cancel the deal and go on to register the players for Epac for the new season.
