Nyasa Big Bullets FC were yesterday models of modesty when they saluted their age-old rivals Be Forward Wanderers for retaining the Carlsberg Cup.
The Nomads came from behind to hold Silver to a one-all draw in regulation time before emerging 5-4 victors in post-match penalties that drove theIR fans through a bewildering gut of emotions.
Bullets vice-chairperson Hassam Jussab said the Nomads displayed strong character to win the cup.
“Rivalry only flourishes when there is strong competition. After we set the tone by winning the Presidential Cup, Wanderers have also followed suit by winning the Carlsberg Cup.
“On behalf of the Bullets family, I would like to salute them for a job well done. It is not an easy feat to defend a cup and that should be the spirit,” he said.
Wanderers main supporters committee secretary Wisdom Patel hailed the players for their fighting spirit and the fans for the morale support.
“Credit should go to the fans and the players, they gave out their all,” he said.
