Big Bullets FC trustees have shifted the date for the team’s executive committee elections from February 8 to 22 at their clubhouse in Blantyre.

The trustees’ general secretary Jim Kalua on Tuesday said the change has been made to have ample time to scrutinise the candidates and ensure only committed Bullets members participate in the polls.

“We want to avoid the recent scenario where most executive committee members were excited to get the positions, but deserted the team at a later stage.

“Of course, a good number of prominent businesspeople have shown interest to contest for various positions during the polls, but we need to have enough time to examine their commitment to the team.

“Our initial plan was to shift the date to February 15, but on that day, our team will be busy playing in the Zambezi Challenge Trophy,” said Kalua.

He added that due to the change of dates, they have also moved the deadline for submitting nomination fees from this Thursday to February 20.

Kalua also said their Central Region committee has been asked to provide the second vice-chairperson, vice-general secretary and a committee member into the executive committee while the Northern Region will usher in vice-treasurer and a committee member.

He, however, said it is too early to reveal the names of people who have shown interest to compete for various positions, saying that will be done this weekend.
