BB fire three players

Big Bullets have fired three key players in a move the club’s spokesperson Higger Mkandawire claimed is aimed at reducing their bloated squad.

The three sacked players are Wayle Tembeta, Tadala Masamba and Luka Jere.

But Mkandawire and the club’s assistant coach Gerald Phiri contradicted on the reasons for the dismissal, particularly on Tembeta.

Phiri told the media last week that Tembeta showed no remorse following the team’s 4-0 humiliation at the hands of Silver Strikers in their opening TNM Super League match.

“We found his attitude to be deplorable,” said Phiri.

However, Mkandawire who is also the club’s acting general secretary, insisted that the decision to fire all the three players was technical.

“We had a bloated squad after signing new players during the off-season period and it was, therefore, agreed that some players should be released,” said Mkandawire.

None of the dismissed trio could be reached for comment on Sunday.

Among the new players Bullets have taken on board include veteran striker Heston Munthali and international midfielder Chimango Kaira who have been roped in on loan from Escom United and up-and-coming midfielder Ian Chinyama from Bangwe Madrid.
