Organisers of the Zambezi Soccer Challenge tournament, TopSports, have disclosed that so far Big Bullets are leading in the votes for participation.

TopSports operations manager Kevin Moyo said as of yesterday morning, Bullets had over 10 000 votes, Nomads had about 8 000 while Silver Strikers were third with about 4 000 votes.

“It is getting interesting because on the first day it was Silver, but then the tide changed dramatically and it is now Bullets who are in forefront,” said Moyo.

He said the other teams were yet to hit even 1 000 votes as of yesterday.

“Of course, coming fourth are KB [Kamuzu Barracks] and then Blue Eagles, but then they are far off compared to the three leading teams,” said Moyo.

However, both the Nomads and Bankers will be keeping their fingers crossed that the Sulom appeals committee should overturn their bans from all football activities to enable them participate in the two-day tournament that will be held on February 15 and 16 in Lilongwe.

Moyo said in the event that the ban is maintained, TopSports will have to go back to the drawing board to determine the way forward.

The tournament will also attract Zimbabwean top outfit Caps United which has already confirmed participation and the winner will get K3 million.

Moyo has since urged fans that have not voted to do so now as the process will go for two weeks.

The tournament is open to all the 15 Super League teams and the numbers to be used are +265-888831484 and +265-994279070. He also said voting can be done through their Facebook page called ‘TopSports Limited.’
