BB, Silver return leg at Mulanje Park

The Airtel Top 8 quarter-final second leg match between Nyasa Big Bullets and Silver Strikers will now be played at Mulanje Park on Sunday, Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has announced.

Initially, the match was scheduled for Zomba Community Centre Ground.

However, there were concerns from both clubs that the venue is not fit for such a big fixture, prompting FAM to take the match to the newly-built 4 000-capacity Mulanje Park.

FAM competitions manager Gomezgani Zakazaka said the hosts, Bullets, had agreed to have the match played in Mulanje.

“Initially, it was Bullets themselves that wanted the match played in Zomba; that’s why we decided to have the game played there,” said Zakazaka.

According to a letter which we have seen, Bullets requested that they should be using Zomba Community Centre Ground following the closure of the Kamuzu Stadium.

“Management of Nyasa Big Bullets FC has resolved that in the interim, Zomba Community Centre Ground shall be our home ground for our Airtel Top 8 return fixture against Silver Strikers FC,” reads the letter from the club to FAM.

Bullets are under pressure to upset the first leg 1-0 loss to Silver Strikers.
