TNM Super League champions Nyasa Big Bullets are set to start their pre-season training this afternoon in preparation for the 2016 season.

Bullets technical director Billy Tewesa said Mabvuto Lungu and Loyd Nkhwazi will still be in charge of the team as they are still in the process to identify a new coach.

“We are starting pre-season training tomorrow [today] at Kamuzu Stadium and we are encouraging players that would want to try their luck to come for assessment.

“The door is open for anyone and they will be assessed accordingly,” said Tewesa.

Commenting on the technical set-up, Tewesa said the plans to engage a qualified coach are still in the pipeline.

“But for the time being, Mabvuto and Nkhwazi will remain in charge until we identify a suitable coach.”

The club’s vice-general secretary Kelvin Moyo also confirmed that Lungu and Nkhwazi will take the team through the pre-season training period.

“Officially we have not unveiled a new gaffer. So, the status remains the same as at now,” he said

Last week, the club’s chairperson Samuel Chilunga disclosed that they were hunting for a new coach to take over from Lungu who does not hold a CAF B license which the Football Association of Malawi (FAM)—under the Club Licensing System (CLS)—is enforcing as a minimum requirement.

In a related development, Be Forward Wanderers have clarified that their coach Elia Kananji will not be demoted, but the technical manager Jack Chamangwana will act as head coach during the time that Kananji will be attending his CAF C and CAF B license courses.
