Nyasa Big Bullets have suspended their executive committee general secretary Kelvin Moyo for alleged insubordination to his legitimate authorities at the club.
This follows an e-mail which Moyo wrote to the club’s board of trustees chairperson James Bussiley in which he implicated an unnamed trustee in match-fixing allegations.
In the letter dated November 25  2016 and signed by Bussiley and his executive committee counterpart Noel Lipipa, Moyo is accused of not following procedures by copying the club’s ‘sensitive’ e-mail correspondence to the media.

The letter, titled ‘Suspension pending disciplinary hearing and other investigations,’ states: “The board of trustees has learnt and observed with big shock that you have of late, as purported by your latest e-mail correspondence to the board chairperson and general secretary with distribution of copies to the media fraternity, shown an act of insubordination to your respective legitimate authorities.”
It further states that being a holder of an esteemed position in the club, Moyo would have deployed absolute maturity by following the right procedures in raising any of the alleged matters for a possible solution.
Adds the letter: “However, you decided to act to the contrary by, among other things, undermining the trusteeship board. You also undermined the authority of your immediate superiors to which you are directly connected to.
“It is also unprocedural for your good office to divulge any pertinent issue pertaining to the club to the media without due consultations and appropriate methods as portrayed by your act.”
The club has since requested Moyo to immediately handover all his responsibilities to the vice-general secretary pending the conclusion of the case.
However, Moyo yesterday claimed that he has not been given the letter.
“I have heard about my suspension, but on what grounds are they suspending me? For exposing acts of corruption by a trustee?
“Here is a trustee who told members of the coaching panel before a match in Lilongwe not to worry because he had fixed the match and I have all the evidence and I fail to understand why they are punishing me for doing the right thing. Do they want us to entertain match-fixing and what message are we sending across?” said Moyo.
He also faulted his suspension, describing it as unprocedural “because they never called me to hear my side of the story”.
But Bussiley yesterday justified Moyo’s suspension, saying: “We have serious problems with the manner he handled the matter. He is making such serious allegations against a trustee and then he goes on to copy the correspondence to the media. We cannot condone that, he should have followed procedures.” 
