BB to start title defence campaign against TN Stars

Nyasa Big Bullets FC will start their TNM Super League title defence against TN Stars at Kasungu Stadium on April 13 in a launch match for the new season.

Super League of Malawi (Sulom) general secretary Williams Banda said the launch match has been arranged in consultation with the sponsors, TNM plc.

“Normally, the launch match involves the champions, but as regards the venue, it has been agreed in consultation with the sponsor so as to accommodate their interests as well,” he said.

Bullets administration director Albert Chigoga said as champions they are mindful of taking every fixture seriously.

“And as defending champions, obviously we would want to start the campaign on a good note,” he said.

Sulom has lined up 10 matches in the opening week with five games slated for Saturday April 13.

In other games slated for Saturday,  last season’s runners-up 2017 champions Be Forward Wanderers will host Mzuzu University (Mzuni) FC at Kamuzu Stadium, Karonga United will face Silver Strikers in Karonga, Kamuzu Barracks will take on Tigers at Civo Stadium while Masters Security will engage Moyale Barracks in Dedza.

On Sunday, Blantyre-based newcomers Ntopwa FC will host (Mzuni) FC at Kamuzu Stadium while Chitipa United, who will be making a return after a season in the lower league, will set off their campaign by hosting Silver at Karonga Stadium.

Another new kid on the block, Mlatho Mponela, will make their debut by hosting Civil Sporting Club at Kasungu Stadium.

Dwangwa United will host Mighty Tigers at Chitowe Stadium in Dwangwa, Nkhotakota whereas Blue Eagles will face Moyale Barracks at Nankhaka in Lilongwe.
