In a latest development to the misunderstandings in Big Bullets FC camp, the team’s board of trustees chairperson James Busiley and general secretary Jim Kalua have resigned.

The duo’s resignation came barely a day after a law firm representing the team’s two supporters Peter Tembo and Alick Kazonga, warned the trustees of contempt of court charges for violating a High Court order not to interfere with the daily management of the club.

In separate letters dated May 8 2015, addressed to Bullets main supporters committee chairperson, copied to the club’s acting chairperson, Super League of Malawi (Sulom) and Football Association of Malawi (FAM) which The Nation has seen, Busiley and Kalua cite resistance from some quarters on critical issues, as one of the reasons for his resignation.

“Further to that, some procedures have deliberately been overlooked and that could put the team in a mess,” read part of the letters.

Busiley also cited the decision taken by the two supporters to take the trustees to court as another reason.

On his part, Kalua also cited work commitments and studies as the other reasons for his decision.

Busiley yesterday confirmed in an interview having stepped down.

“Circumstances beyond my control have forced me to quit. With the way things are going, I am afraid I can find myself being arrested just because of football- related issues and that is the last thing I would expect and to avoid such a scenario, I would better quit.

“After all, I offer my services to the team on voluntary basis. We are being accused of interfering in the affairs of the club. So, let those that are accusing us of interference run the show,” said Busiley.

However, Bullets main supporters committee chairperson Stone Mwamadi yesterday claimed that he had not yet received the letters of resignation.

“I am not aware of that development, but if it is true then we will meet to scrutinise the reasons and then map the way forward, suffice to say if it is indeed true then it is very unfortunate because these are the people we look up to for guidance,” said Mwamadi
