Multichoice Malawi says for the first time in history, there has been a high quality of aspirants to represent the country in Big Brother Africa 8.

From Monday through Wednesday, the show’s producers were conducting auditions to find the country’s representative who will battle it out with other housemates from 13 different countries for the $300 000 prize.

“About 99 people auditioned this year for Big Brother 8. And a majority of these made it to the second phase of the auditions. This means good quality of those wishing to represent the country.

“It also means people now have embraced the show and they fully understand it. Therefore, there is some sort of self-examination process that is taking place before one makes a decision to go for auditions,” said Multichoice Malawi’s sales and marketing executive for the Central and North, MacRonnex Kaulembe.

The auditions are in two phases: the introductory part and the filming part, where the footage is kept for future use.

Kaulembe added that: “The huge turn out as well as good quality is a clear indication that Malawi wants to win the top prize money.”

Among the notable personalities that auditioned at Crossroads Hotel include well-known radio presenters, musicians, club DJs as well as other professionals.

For now, Big Brother followers will have to wait until May 25, when the show starts, to see who will represent the country this year.
