Malawi’s Code Sangala is determined to take his Big Brother Africa story to a higher level.  Mr C.O has added Zimbabwe’s BBA All Stars housemate Bertha Zakeyo to his first album Solo.

In an interview, Code said the album, scheduled for release in July 2013, will feature the Zimbabwean with whom he sang the love song Ruwa Rangu on the reality show in 2010.

The former Kapirintiya star also revealed that he has replaced Ghana’s housemate Sammy B with Malawi rhymester Piksy on the remix of Ndiwe while Botswana’s Kaone will add his voice to Tithana.

“I just finished speaking to Kaone for a collabo on a song called Tithana. I have Bertha Zakeyo on the most requested collabo, Ruwa Rangu,” said Mr C.O.

The artist, who coordinates Chichiri Cultural Troupe, talked about his encounters with Malagasy and Ghanaian poet Crystal Tetey who performed at Nanzikambe Arts Cafe last month and agreed to join the cast.

He said: “Nanzikambe Arts wanted to have Chichiri Cultural Troupe at her show, but logistics could not allow. I told her about my album and she said, ‘don’t wrap it up, I wanna jump on it’ and then we booked studio time at Tom’s Studio where we recorded Linda Madzi, a celebration of a Malawian proverb.”

C.O has also paired with rapper Tay Grin and Dyce on Want More which was produced by Tapps Bandawe.

He explained his work with urban music artist Piksy on the Ndiwe remix as amazing.

He said the original version of Ndiwe is getting airplay in the US as well as BBC having been featured on a compilation CD for Radio Express in California. The Ndiwe remix was recorded at Pro Pee Records by Percy Matonzo.

Solo will have 10 tracks and it will be re-mastered by Mother City Records in Cape Town, South Africa. It brings together fusions of Afro-pop, R&B, Rumba and Afro-jazz in a touch C.O dubs ‘a tradistic soul vibe’.
