The items worth K5 million included X-ray detectable gauze, women disposable underwear and beds.

Frank Taulo, a gynaecologist at QECH and lecturer at College of Medicine, a constituent college of the University of Malawi (Unima)thanked Beam for the donation, saying the medical supplies would go a long way in helping them.

“The assorted medical supplies donated are not only for Chatinkha ward, as there are some that will go to help other areas in the hospital. We had been facing challenges in the ward because of lack of supplies which lead to loss of life; these supplies will help a lot,” said Taulo.

Head of obstetrics and gynaecology at QECH Phylos Bonongwe said: “One of the biggest challenges we have is indeed supplies and equipment but the supplies that we lacked you have given to us.” n
