The Bhaiji Cricket Tournament will today conclude quarter-final games at Mpingwe Sports Club (MSC) and Oriental Cricket Club (OCC) in Blantyre.
According to the competitions organising chairperson Saeed Limdawala, MSC Grey face MSC White at the MSC while MSC Silver will play Gold Fattani at OCC.

He said the winner at MSC will clash with MSC Orange in the semi-final the same day whereas winner at OCC will take on Purple in the other semifinal at the OCC.

“Orange and Purple automatically qualified for the semi-finals after they emerged on top of the ladders in the group stages. The other four teams finished within the top three bracket and they have to earn the semi-final slots through the play-offs,” he said.

During the group stages of the 10-team contest, Orange topped Group-A with six points while Gold and White settled for second and third place with 4 points and 2 points, respectively.

In Group-B, Purple collected six points, the same as Grey but they topped the list on strong run-rate. Silver finished third with 4 points.

The 10-overs event was introduced over two weeks ago as a tribute to fallen cricket umpire Yakub Bhaiji, who served on the domestic scene for over 20 years.
