Bioclinical Partners, one of the country’s suppliers of medical and laboratory equipment, has trained 30 laboratory technicians and service engineers from private and public hospitals in the Southern Region.

The training was provided by Landwind Medical, a health care company headquartered in Shenzhen, China which has partnered with Bioclinical Partners to supply different kinds of analysers used in hospital laboratories.

A-modern-hospital-lab_closeup_aug3Chief executive officer of the company, Esther Maliro, said the main aim of the training was to show the technicians the different kinds of analysers offered by the Chinese company so that they make good procurement decisions as currently only two hospitals in the country have the equipment.

“The staff trained here have a final say in procurement of laboratory equipment for their various hospitals and institutions and the main aim of the training was to familiarise them with the different kinds of analysers provided by Landwind Medical so that they should know the cost effectiveness, user friendliness and workability of the equipment,” said Maliro.

Henry Feluzi, laboratory manager at Mwayiwathu Private Hospital in Blantyre, said in an interview the training was an eye opener, noting that they will now be able to make informed decisions when buying equipment.

The training was provided by Joyce Wang, Landwind Medical account manager responsible for African countries, and the trainees came from various hospitals including Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH), Zomba Central Hospital (ZCH), Chiradzulu and Balaka district hospitals.
