Birthmark takes gospel route

Lilongwe-based musician Birthmark has dared to veer off his usual terrain and dropped two gospel-themed songs.

Birthmark, born Birthmark Maka Banda, has this week released Ndiulure, Ndani Angampose and Love Proposal.

On a gospel path: Birthmark

He said the two gospel songs are a reflection of what people go through before they receive Jesus Christ.

In an interview, Birthmark said he is contented to stay in the gospel lane in as far as his music is concerned.

“For now this is what I feel like doing. Of course the other song is more of love whereby a man is asking for his lost love. I first released the gospel ones and Love Proposal was released last Sunday,” he said.

Birthmark roped in three producers namely Kidy from Mchinji, Trap Genius from Blantyre and Charxy Bandry from Lilongwe. The singer and composer said, he brought the three together.

He said: “They all worked together in the production of the beats, but the job of doing the final mixing was handled by Charxy Bandry. Everyone brought in his ideas and at the end of the day we brought out a product of good quality.”

Birthmark said the three singles signals the start of his album project which will drop later in the year. This will be his third studio album after the release of Takonzeka in 2017 and Ma Banja a Lero last year.

This is not the first time for the R ‘n’ B musician to drop a gospel song as he also released The Lord is My Shepherd last year.
