The social media was abuzz when MBC Radio 2FM’s DJ Joy Nathu premiered Pen Yopanda Khavala by probably Malawi’s most controversial dancehall artist, BlackJak.
Following the Pen Yopanda Khavala premiere, Blakjak—real name Fatsani Kalonda—has since announced the release of his new album on September 1 2016.
“The song is a concept about how we do not have to judge a book by its cover or underestimate the importance of certain things,” he said.
The song has so far attracted mixed reactions with some quarters praising the artist for his creativity and others criticising him, claiming his language is offensive.
Critics say Pen Yopanda Khavala follows the pattern the member of the defunct Nyasa Gurus set in Wadya Iwe which also became a household name among lovers of urban music.
The dancehall superstar further disclosed that he will be releasing singles throughout the month of August, saying there are four more singles to be released before the album.
