Blackouts haunt Piksy show

Some fun-lovers whined while others left for home as electricity blackout soured the pre-launch of Nthumwi Piksy’s first solo album at Gymkhana Club in Zomba on Sunday.

The afternoon show featured last year’s Big Brother rep Lomwe and rapper Barry One along with Piksy’s Nde’feyo Entertainment labelmates— Armstrong, Biriwiri and Maziko Band.

However, the sparkle of the cast was blackened by persistent electricity outages which plagued the old capital for the better part of the day. As a result, the urban music party which was scheduled for 1pm started at 3 pm.

The two-hour delay was powered by the absence of an electrical generator and the patrons were not patient either.

In an interview, disappointed  Piksy  (real name Evance Zangazanga) had no rhymes like those that make Appetiser and Unamata strong statements of  his upcoming album’s potential —but only rap for Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi to put their act in order.

“The blackout really disturbed us as people doubted whether the show would happen in the first place,” he said.
