Celebrated local reggae outfit the Black Missionaries have again shifted the DVD launch of their Kuimba 10 album.

The launch was initially slated for July, but was postponed to August 7 in Lilongwe and the following week in Blantyre and Mzuzu. It was further shifted to November.

However, the band has again postponed the show indefinitely due to what they say is a tight schedule.

“We are booked for shows. We had planned to hold it October end, but then got a booking for Sand Festival. We cannot do it in November as this is the month we always hold Evison Matafale’s memorial show,” said band leader Anjiru Fumulani.

“This year, it [the memorial show] takes place on November 27. On November 29, we are off to South Africa for shows until around mid-December. The last four months of 2016 have been very busy for us.”

He said the band also considered shows by other musicians when coming up with the dates, adding a new date will be announced after their return from South Africa.

The Kuimba 10 ship docked on the musical scene in March last year.

Initially, the album got mixed reactions from music followers, with some saying the Chileka-based group was headed for disaster because the songs were not catchy while others claimed to find the songs up to scratch.

However, soon after its release in August that year, the odds tilted, with the album attaining rare praise.

The band then moved into the second phase, shooting the DVD version of the project.

“We first postponed the DVD launch because videos of five songs done in South Africa were not completed. But right now, everything is done. We can actually go ahead and start selling the DVD, but we cannot because we have not launched it yet,” added Fumulani. n
