Blantyre CCAP Synod trains caregivers

The Blantyre CCAP Synod last week trained 30 caregivers to improve delivery of early childhood development (ECD) services in the synod.

The training, held in Blantyre, was organised under a three-year project titled ‘Protection of Children Affected with HIV and Aids’, which the synod is implementing with financial support from Unicef.

Blantyre Synod project officer Arnold Limbani said participants to the training were drawn from Blantyre and Zomba.

Limbani said the workshop also sought to find lasting solutions to challenges that are undermining the ECD sector in the two districts.

“We noted a number of challenges besetting the sector; hence, we requested for assistance from Unicef, which responded by providing K145 million for implementing this project,” he said.

One of the participants, Never Chitimbe, said the training has greatly enhanced her skills in handling young children.

According to Limbani, the project will be implemented in all districts under the jurisdiction of the synod.
