Blantyre-based businessperson Kananji Madyeramphoto has won K26 million in premier sports betting with a stake of K30 000.
He earned the prize at Premier Bet Baluti Shop in Blantyre on Tuesday following correct prediction of 20 matches to become the joint highest prize winner with Lilongwe-based Omar Osman who did it last year.
Madyeramphoto, who did not avail himself during prize presentation at Premier Bet Limbe Shop in Blantyre yesterday, said in a telephone interview that he will invest the money in minibus commuter service and agriculture business.
“I do not know how to express my happiness. This is a life-changing moment for me,” he said.
Premier Bet sales manager Sam Chibambo Jnr said they are proud to see more people winning big prizes through physical and online betting.
“This proves that sport betting is capable of producing millionaires and we are happy that we continue to change lives. For instance, in the past week we have spent at least K200 million in prizes,” he said.
Nevertheless, the company’s brand ambassador Peter Fote advised the public not to bet using money for basic necessities.
