Blantyre Rotary Club inducts two

The Rotary Club of Blantyre on Thursday inducted two new members—Dango Mkandawire and Allan Nasoro—to its fold at Casa Mia Restaurant and Lodge in Blantyre.

Immediate-past president of the club Chris Chirwa presided over the induction of the new rotarians.

Said Chirwa: “You have been chosen for membership in the Rotary Club of Blantyre because your fellow members believe you to be leaders in your vocation and community.

“While membership in rotary is an honour and privilege, it involves corresponding obligations and responsibilities.”

He said an important requirement of membership is regular attendance of weekly meetings.

“I know that it’s not always easy to make the meetings, but only busy people are eligible for membership in our club.

“One of the great privileges of rotary is fellowship and the mutual confidence which it inspires. Good rotarians must constantly keep before them the primary rotary objects,” he said.

Chirwa also added that the community will know and judge rotary through their example in character and service and they were accepted as members because the club believes the principles and objects of rotary will be safe in their keeping.

On his part, Mkandawire said he was excited with his induction and looked forward to serving the club with full dedication.

“I am honoured and humbled to join the club because it has values that anyone can aspire for,” he said.
