Blantyre Synod conducts school quiz in Zomba

Pupils from Makumba Primary School in Zomba recently emerged the best in the Church of Central Africa Presbyterian (CCAP) BlantyreSynod quiz competition held at Sakata Community Hall in Sub-Traditional Authority (ST/A) Nkagula in the district.

Blantyre Synod education coordinator for the Eastern Region Richard Mpaso said apart from preaching the word of God, the church also focuses on education to develop a culture of studying among students in rural areas.

“Our objective is to create a hard-working spirit in students from rural areas so that they love education and reduce higher rates of dropouts. We are happy with their performance and we are certain that through this knowledge they will be able to pass examinations with relative ease, joy and efficiency,” he said.

In her remarks, a Standard Six pupil from the winning school, Judith Phimba, revealed that their secrets were discipline and hardwork.

“Since we heard about the competition, we organised ourselves to be hard-working by spending sleepless nights studying and doing group discussions. No wonder we have emerged the best school,” she said.
