Blantyre United to make amends in Presidential Cup

Blantyre United striker Brown Mizeye has said the team will cause more havoc in the forthcoming Presidential Cup after missing the TNM Super League championship.

United finished the league on seventh position with 42 points—six points behind champions Silver Strikers.

Mizeye said it was painful to finish outside the paid ranks after being on top of the league for three consecutive weeks.

“Fatigue caught up with us towards the end of the league, but we really did well. The last four games did the damage, but we have shown what we are capable of doing. We will come back bigger and stronger in the Presidential Cup. Our target is to reach the finals,” he said.

Mizeye, who was the teams’ top scorer with 11 goals, said the most important thing is for the team to remain intact.

“We had a good team and most of our players are in demand by bigger clubs. I have offers as well, but I am staying at the club and I hope all other players will also stay because we will achieve a lot if we stay intact,” he said.

United midfielder, Jimmy Chikulekule, has since committed his future to the club.

“I am not going anywhere, at least for now. We really need to thank our sponsor [Lawson Nakoma] by achieving big in the Presidential Cup,” said Chikulekule who is the hot contender for the TNM Super League midfielder and player of the season awards.
