Organisers of the Blue Mingoli, Standard Bank Malawi, say preparations for this year’s event, scheduled for the Bingu International Conference Centre (Bicc) in Lilongwe on November 5, are on course.

Standard Bank Malawi head of marketing and communications, Thoko Unyolo, said the bank has so far identified partners in key areas of hospitality and accommodation, transportation, media, arts and stage technicians to help make the event one of a kind.

She said: “We are working around the clock with both our local and international partners to ensure that we host yet another great Blue Mingoli concert.

“As the day draws closer, more partners are coming on board and committing to making November 5 a day to remember for the arts and entertainment industry in Malawi.”

This year’s concert features South Africa’s award-winning Afro-soul diva Zonke Dikana and Malawi’s contemporary gospel musician Patience Namadingo.

Previously, Bicc has successfully hosted Zahara, Earl Klugh, Jimmy Dhludhlu and Lira, performing under a similar event.

Unyolo said, in line with the bank’s purposes of together driving growth to build Malawi, most of the partners are Malawian companies sharing a goal of promoting local economic development on the arts and music platform.

This year, the event is being held under the theme More than Music.

There will also be exhibitions by Elson Kambalu and other exhibitors from Art House Africa.

“We will be using the platform of music to engage other sectors of the Malawi economy. This will be done while delivering quality entertainment and creating business connections with customers of the bank and other lovers of good music,” she Unyolo.

Tickets to the event are currently on sale at Capital City, Lilongwe and Gateway Mall branches in Lilongwe and Blantyre and Ginnery Corner branches in Blantyre.

Very Important Person (VIP) tickets are selling at K35 000 while standard tickets are at K20 000 each.
