Red Lions red-hot striker Innocent Bokosi is next season set to join Mozambique side Grupo Desportivo da Hidroeléctrica de Cahora Bassa popularly known as HCB Songo.

The Mocambola side has offered Bokosi a two-year contract and the striker is just waiting for Malawi Defence Force to authorise his move.

“I can say right now all is set for my move to Mozambique. I have been offered a two-year contract which I am yet to sign,” he said.

“I am right now waiting for my employers MDF to discuss with the club so that I can be released to join the team in January.”

Red Lions team manager Frank Phiri, who has been handling the issue, said Bokosi’s request from HCB Songo was presented to the Army Commander’s office for approval.

Bokosi is the current TNM Super League top goal-scorer having banged in 13 goals.

He is followed by Silver Strikers forward Green Harawa and Civo United’s Nelson Kangunje who have 11 goals apiece.

Meanwhile, HCB Songo president Saide Tuhair is expected in the country this month to discuss the transfer deal with MDF.

“He is in Portugal right now, but once he is back in Mozambique, he will come to Malawi,” Bokosi said.

HCB Songo are also set to sign Silver Strikers captain Lucky Malata, who last month travelled to Mozambique where he is reported to have clinched a deal.

The two players will join former Silver Strikers players Frank Banda and Charles Swini at the Mozambique national league side based in Tete Province. n
