Boy drowns in well

A sombre mood engulfed Efelemu Village in the area of Traditional Authority Malenga in Ntchisi after a six-year-old boy drowned in a well where he had gone to wash plates with his friend.

The deceased’s grandmother, Edesi Mika, who identified the deceased as Frodrick Tomasi, said the incident occurred last Saturday.

“The deceased left home with a friend from the same village for the well, which is about 1.8 metre deep, within their village to clean up the plates. While there, the deceased jumped into the well and drowned.

“When the villagers arrived they found the body floating. A police officer and a medical officer from Kamsonga Health Centre visited the scene and pronounced him dead due to suffocation,” said Mika.
