Brazil has assisted Malawi with 407.17 metric tones of beans to help people affected by hunger.
Commissioner for Department of Disaster Management Affairs (Dodma) Bernard Sande said in an interview on Monday that the donation will reach 224 000 food insecure people.
Sande applauded Brazil for the assistance, saying it will help the beneficiaries to have balanced diets.
“In view of the ongoing hunger problem, this donation is timely. Government is grateful to the government of Brazil for this generous and timely assistance,” said Sande.
Brazil ambassador to Malawi Gustavo Martins Noguieira said his government is concerned about Malawi’s situation and is ready to help.
In addition to Brazil, the United States of America (USA), the United Kingdom (UK), Italy and the European Union have also provided relief assistance to Malawi.
