Blantyre Sports Club (BSC) darts team snatched the K300 000 Deekay Supplies/Sports Complex darts crown from Elvis Freight Saturday night at the College of Medicine (CoM) Sports Complex.

They won all their six games with big score margins, including a 7-4 triumph over the defending champions in the finals and an 8-4 victory over White Eagles in the semi-finals to take home the K60 000 winners’ purse.

BSC players also dominated in individual prizes as they carried home 10 out of 16 of the day-long event’s individual rewards. Their player Robert Gongolo closed on a bull while Brave Chirwa, Charles Katola and Benson Bakali hit 180s.

Katola also sparkled for his team after he made three game-shots below 20 darts to win K1 500 whereas his teammate Steve Njere did it twice alongside Elvis Freight’s Chipiliro Mzanda.

“We are back with a bang! We are excited with our performance today and we will defend the title next year,” said BSC captain Henry Tsakama.

According to the coordinator of the annual event, Duncan Karim, they were supposed to hold the contest for two days, but they did it in a day due to failure by Escom teams Nkula and Tedzani to turn up for the competition.
