The Malawi Cricket Union (MCU) will wrap up the 2014 season with two senior men’s national championships at Blantyre Sports Club this weekend.

MCU president Vivek Ganesan told The Nation on Thursday that they will start with the senior men’s 30-overs championships on Saturday followed by the 50-overs on Sunday.

The 30-over competition will involve hosts BSC, Nyambadwe Eagles, Indian Country Club A and a Lilongwe side while the 50-over event will be contested by Southern and Central Region select teams.

Both events are sponsored by TNM, Protea Hotels and SuperSport.

“This is how we are wrapping up the 2014 season,” said Ganesan.

He added that they have worked hard to build a strong foundation for their programmes over the last three years and they believe they have an opportunity and potential to accomplish great things on top of building on their success.

“But we have to thank our sponsors for their support and encouragement and the volunteers for their contributions. We could have achieved nothing without their helping hand,” he said.
