BSC retain rugby championship
FMB once again sponsored the Leslie Seven’s Rugby Tournament as part of its initiative to develop minority sports in Malawi.
In a spectacular and well attended event that took place last Saturday at Blantyre Sports Club, the tournament drew eight teams with one travelling from as far as Karonga.
Speaking at the end of the tournament which saw defending champions Blantyre Sports Club (senior team) emerge winners for the second year running, FMB executive director Sean O’Neill expressed the bank’s satisfaction with the way the tournament is conducted.
In particular, he mentioned the fact that it is fulfilling the intent for which it was put in place, which is to develop minority sports, and ensure that there is participation at grass roots level.
“It is pleasing to see all these youth teams from different parts of the country showing such passion for the sport,” said O’Neill.
He pledged continued commitment to sponsoring the tournament and thanked the various individuals and institutions for working so hard to make the tournament a success.
