Southern Region Presidential Darts Championships quarter-finals will roll into action tomorrow at Blantyre Sports Club (BSC).

This follows the regional group stage encounters that saw defending national champions MPCC, BSC, Luchenza, SDI, Newlands, Tedzani, White Eagles and IntoSport filling the last-eight slots last weekend.

At least 17 teams took part in the regional group stage matches.

According to Darts Association of Malawi (DAM) vice-president Duncan Karim, the regional quarter-finalists will be fighting for the four slots at the national finals in Lilongwe.

“This is the most crucial stage of the qualifiers and we urge all the quarter-finalists to be well-prepared for battles,” Karim said.

BSC’s Atany Kaipa and Young Kamanga are the players to watch during the regional quarter-finals as they emerged top during the group stage.

Kaipa managed to score three 180s while Kamanga earned two 180s.

Soka Banda of MPC and Kapichira’s Emmanuel Tchauya grabbed a single 180 each.

“I am geared to score even more 180s this weekend and help my team sail through to the national finals,” said Kaipa.

The K1million (about $1 500) annual competition is divided into senior men, ladies, boys and girls categories. n
