Blantyre CCAP Synod officially launched its Bangwe branch last Sunday amid ululations and dancing by excited Presbyterians in the township.

Bangwe has 600 CCAP members who used to travel long distances to congregate at Thundu CCAP Church.

The inauguration of the church, therefore, brings relief among the flock as they will no longer be walking long distances to praise and worship their creator.

Blantyre City Presbytery clerk, Reverend Buxton Maulidi, said the opening of a new congregation in Bangwe signifies the infrastructural as well as spiritual growth of the synod.

“We’re very excited with the growth the church is experiencing. As a church, we’re steadfast in the proclamation of the gospel and the inauguration of the congregation today signifies that commitment,” said Maulidi.

Meanwhile, the presbytery has appointed Reverend Joseph Mulowa to serve the congregation.

Mulowa said he was filled with thanksgiving to God for the challenge.

He pledged to serve the congregation with honour and fear of God to ensure the continued growth of the church in the township.
