The Blantyre CCAP Synod has given in to the demand of the faithful at Michiru Congregation in Blantyre who recently rejected the appointment of Reverend Chigwenembe to head the church.

Chigwenembe was tipped to replace Reverend Reynold Mmangisa who is now heading to Zomba CCAP Church after a major shake-up of the clergy that took place in the church in October last year.

But members of the Michiru CCAP

Church refused to open their doors to the new minister, arguing that he is too old to lead a church.

They said their fellow Christians from where the rejected pastor had been serving told them that his sermons are not inspiring.

The synod general secretary Reverend Alex Maulana said Friday that after studying the formal communication from the congregation, the synod decided to respect the wishes of their Christians.

“We have since replaced him [Chigwenembe] with Reverend Paul Mawaya. Reverend Chigwenembe has been assigned to other duties,” said Maulana.

One of the Christians at Michiru CCAP Church Lucius Kalimbuka told Nation on Sunday last year that the congregation is a no-go zone for uninspiring clergy because “we don’t want pastors who lead worshippers into slumber.”
