Blantyre United are expected to have a feel of international football when they host Mozambique top league side GDHCB this weekend.

United administrator Lawson Nakoma said the Mozambican side offered to come as part of its preparations for the Mocambola league. GDHCB is home to Malawian striker Gerald Nkungula, formerly of Civo United.

“The team asked us if we could arrange other willing teams so Mighty Wanderers and Evirom were interested. The team arrives tomorrow [Thursday] for a week-long tour. The games will help cement our relations and give us a measure of the game outside the borders,” Nakoma explained on Wednesday.

United are also expected to travel to Mozambique in August after being invited to take part in Quilimane City Celebrations, according to Nakoma.

The Nation has seen a letter in which United have sought final confirmation from Wanderers and Evirom, who coincidently face in the TNM Super League Azam Tigers and Silver Strikers on Saturday.

The league assignments have forced United to reschedule the matches against the visitors. United face GDHCB on Sunday at Kamuzu Stadium whereas Wanderers will host the visitors on Tuesday July 23.

Evirom entertain the visitors on Wednesday. GDHCB were expected to bring a 36-member delegation.

Wanderers and Evirom had, alongside the Super League of Malawi, not confirmed their involvement in the GDHCB’s visit.

Mozambican clubs are regular visitors to Malawi and they often use such trips to spot talent. The former Portuguese is the current biggest importer of Malawi talent estimated at over 20.
