BT Zero, Ntopwa in South Presidential finals

Defending champions Blantyre Zero and Ntopwa Super Queens registered big-margin semi-final victories to qualify for the Southern Region Women Football Association (SRWFA) Presidential Cup finals.

Zero thrashed Heaven Stars 9-1 on Saturday while Ntopwa whitewashed Kaponi Stars 18-0 the following day at Mpira Stadium in Chiwembe, Blantyre.

Temwa Chawinga and Pilirani Malora scored five goals and four goals respectively, as Zero deflated Stars’ egos on the artificial turf.  Stars got their consolation goal through Aisha Tepani.

WOMEN-FOOTBALL

On Sunday, Zione Robert registered 12 goals for Ntopwa. Mwayi Kasiya notched a hat-trick whereas Lynes Mbera had a brace and Fanny Magombo rounded up the scoring .

Chawinga is currently leading the scorers’ chart in the South with 16 goals. Ntopwa’s Robert is second with 12 goals.

“I am determined to win the top-goal scorer’s purse and I will do my best to score more goals in the finals,” Chawinga said.

Super Dynamos and Moyale Sisters qualified for the regional finals in the North while DD Sunshine and Skippers did it in the Centre.

According to National Women Football Association (NWFA) general secretary Lina Mtegha, the regional finals will be played this weekend in the respective regions at venues to be announced later. n
