Ntopwa Super Girls and defending champions Blantyre Zero have maintained a clean sheet in the Southern Region Women Football Association (SRWFA) League.

Ntopwa, who are at the summit of the eight-team log-table with 18 points, have not let in a single goal in the six games they have played.

Jomo Osman: This is a wonderful season for us

Zero, who are second on the ladder with 12 points from four games, are yet to collect the ball from the back of their net as they whitewashed Evirom Sisters 10-0 at the MDC Stadium last weekend.

Overall, Ntopwa have scored 21 goals while Zero have taken their tally to 60.

“This is a wonderful season for us and we are trying our best to maintain the good run in our remaining games. Nevertheless, we know that it will be tougher to keep this record when we meet our rivals Zero this weekend,” said Ntopwa owner and team manager Isaac ‘Jomo’ Osman.

On the other hand, his Zero coach and player Maggie Chombo-Sadiki said: “We are on a campaign of making history by defending the league title without conceding a goal.”

Meanwhile, Zero’s free-scoring striker Temwa Chawinga has intensified her chase for golden-boot as she notched six goals last weekend to remain top of scorers with 35 goals.

Ntopwa and Zero will clash at the MDC Stadium this Saturday while Chikwawa Sisters will host Blantyre Hotspur. On Sunday, Bangwe will face Balaka Sisters at Bangwe Youth Centre. n
