Big Bullets once again failed to topple Moyale Barracks from the summit of the flagship Super League yesterday when they held Mafco to a 1-1 draw at Chitowe in Dwangwa, Nkhotakota.
After Moyale were held to a 1-1 draw by Mighty Wanderers the previous afternoon, Bullets needed to win against the Salima-based military outfit, but it just did not work according to their wish.
Following the draw, Bullets are now tied on 43 points with leaders Moyale and they have played 21 games each, but Moyale still have the bragging rights courtesy of a better goal difference whereas Blue Eagles are third with 40 points, but with a game in hand.
And the fight for the title seems to be destined to go down to the wire.
It took Mafco just a minute into the game to take the lead, even before the fans got the feel of the action through Saidi Mtekama and the People’s Team appeared to have been caught off guard.
But inspired by experienced Jimmy Zakazaka and Fischer Kondowe, Bullets kept their foot on the gas pedal and it paid off in the 40th minute when captain Henry Kabichi hit the equaliser after Kondowe had done the spadework.
Both teams fought for the winner, but it just could not come.
