Big Bullets FC   has embarked on a nationwide campaign to raise about K10 million (US$24 570) from their loyal supporters for their forthcoming trip to South Africa for a week-long preseason training camp.

The People’s Team launched the campaign on Thursday when the club’s supporters’ committee chairperson Isaac Osman led a tour of Blantyre City townships, where they collected K200 from each willing fan in exchange of tickets that will be entered into a raffle draw on March 26.

According to Bullets supporters’ committee vice-chairperson Stone Mwamadi, at least 10 lucky fans will win an all-expenses-paid-for trip to Limpopo, South Africa on March 29.

He added that other lucky supporters will win smart phones and Bullets-branded T-shirts.

Mwamadi told Nation on Sunday yesterday they were expected to conduct a similar activity in Mulanje and Phalombe in the South, Lilongwe in the Centre and Mzuzu in the North as we went to press.

“We would like to reach all our fans countrywide with this initiative before the team’s departure on March 29. Next weekend, we will take the campaign to our fellow fans in Nsanje and Chikhwawa,” he said.

Apart from from helping the team on their international outing, Mwamadi said the fundraisers also aim at raising money for buying new players to beef up their squad ahead of the next Super League season which kicks off on April 19.

The South Africa trip follows a pledge by the newly elected executive committee chairperson Kondi Msungama, who offered to pump close to K4.5 million (US$11 056) personal money into the trip.

  1. I find this idea of Bullets camping in RSA as a little ambitious. Initially I read as if the whole trip was fully funded and now seems they are fundraising for the same trip which is not making sense. as a football fan and a nomad I am not in support of giving 10 supportes an all expenses paid trip when Bullets has struggled to sustain the players at some point. I would have loved to see them fundraising for the smooth running of the club in the next coming season rather than spend over 10million in preparation for the league and end up struggling financially once the league starts. We need forward thinking and avoid being over ambitious. No offence to Bullets fans and management
