Bullets FC and Mighty Wanderers have urged their fans to cast more votes in Carlsberg’s Win for Your Club Competition which was officially launched in Blantyre on Saturday.

In the competition, either of the two clubs which gets more votes will win K5 million (about $12 500).

The competition requires fans to buy Carlsberg beer and SMS the code found under the bottle-top together with the code of their teams to numbers that will be announced soon.

A lucky supporter also stands a chance to win K1 million (about $2 500) at the end of the competition in June.

Bullets chairperson Malinda Chinyama appealed to his team’s supporters to drink more beer and enter the competition as many times as possible to help them win the K5 million.

“If we win this money, it is going to make a big difference to the club. So, we urge all our supporters to patronise Carlsberg products and vote to make us win,” he said.

He also said they will be holding happy hours at their clubhouse where beer will be sold at special prices to ensure more entries are made.

Wanderers chairperson George Chamangwana said the K5 million would be vital in supplementing the sponsorship from Carlsberg.

“If we get it, our sponsorship will go up to K20 million (about $50 000) which will help us invest more and raise enough funds that will enable us run the team smoothly. So, Nomads fans, please, make the votes rain,” he said.

The competition was launched barely five days after Carlsberg Malawi renewed its annual sponsorship with the two teams.

Carlsberg Malawi group marketing director Gwynth Mchiela said the competition is aimed at bringing supporters closer to their clubs.

“We want the supporters to play a part in raising funds for their clubs while at the same time, enjoying our products and standing a chance to become millionaires,” she said.
