Silver Strikers are unperturbed at the prospect of meeting Nyasa Big Bullets in the round of 16 of the Fisd Challenge Cup on October 25 at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.

A draw conducted yesterday in Lilongwe by Football Association of Malawi (FAM) commercial director Limbani Matola, has pitted Silver against Bullets.

Mighty Be Forward Wanderers have an easy fixture against Lake Valley Stars from Ntcheu.

After the draw, Silver general secretary Thabo Chakaka Nyirenda said: “For you to be the champion you need to beat the best. We are ready mentally and tactically to face Bullets. We are not shaking. The fact that they struggled against teams like Karonga United is evidence that they are not as strong as they look on paper.”

He assured Silver fans that the team has recovered from the Carlsberg Cup final loss to Wanderers.

Bullets team manager Rahim Ishmael has warned Silver not to underestimate them.

“They should not be talking too much. This is football and we are a big team in this country as we are Super League defending champions. We too know their weaknesses and will exploit that when we meet,” said Ishmael in a telephone interview.

The winner between Bullets and Silver will face either Zolozolo or Dwangwa United.

Kamuzu Barracks have vowed to oust Epac who knocked them out of the Carlsberg Cup.

“We just pray for fair offication but we are confident of beating them. This is an opportunity for us to avenge the 4-1 defeat and we are going to do it,” said KB team manager Francis Shaba who attended the draw.

Epac FC executive member Khembo Mumba described Shaba’s remarks as wishful thinking.

Fisd executive director Moses Chirambo said they are happy with the progress of the tournament.

“We are excited to be contributing something towards the growth of football in the country. n
