Despite getting a K500 million (about $764 741) sponsorship from Nyasa Manufacturing Company (NMC), Big Bullets will only buy five players to beef up their squad next season.

Chairperson of the newly-crowned Super League champions Sam Chilunga told The Nation on Thursday that his team already has a strong squad that requires a few signings that can add value next season.

“It is a habit for most soccer teams to hire and fire players when they acquire a mouth-watering sponsorship. But not with us; we have confidence in the current squad, but we still need five top quality players to strengthen our side,” Chilunga said.

“We already identified the players and we wrote their respective teams requesting for their release. We are confident that the concerned teams will not deny these players opportunity of joining Bullets family.”

According to Chilunga, the five targetted players include Levison Maganizo, Rafiq Namwera and Brighton Munthali of relegated Fisd Wizards.

Chilunga added that although they have obtained sound sponsorship, they will not dump their plans of intensifying fundraising activities and emphasising on the sale of merchandise such as branded replica jerseys.

“Our objectives are two-fold; to be financially stable and continue to be a winning brand. But to achieve this, we need to do a lot of marketing and have a reliable squad,” he said.
