Bullets, Wanderers rivalry back today

Listen to this article

It is once again a day of emotions in Blantyre as Big Bullets take on Mighty Wanderers at Kamuzu Stadium this afternoon in one of the hottest fixtures of the 2014/2015 TNM Super League.

A lot is at stake in today’s fixture. Bullets need to win so that they do not lose the battle to top the table as they fight for Super League honours. Bullets have not won the league for six years now.

bullets_nomadsBullets head coach Elia Kananji told Weekend Nation that he is fighting to have a double for his new team after winning the Carlsberg Cup this year.

“The fans, the executive and everyone want to win the league. It has been a while since we last won the league. The match on Saturday is not only about pride, but we want to cover the gap so that we win the league. This is not about Wanderers versus Bullets, but the league title. We can’t afford to drop points,” said Kananji.

With experienced strikers such as Jimmy Zakazaka and industrious Henry Kabichi and winger Dalitso Sailesi, Bullets have the weaponry to get a result. However, BB will still miss services of Chiku Kanyenda who is in Botswana on pressing personal engagements.

Mighty Wanderers coach Gerald Phiri is set to improve his standing on the TNM Super League table after a not-so-impressive display in recent games. He also wants to avenge his side’s 2-0 loss to Bullets in the first-round.

“It is always a big match and we are ready for it. There is so much at stake, but we have a game plan to stop Bullets, albeit it will be tough,” said Phiri.

Wanderers have got a boost after the inclusion of experienced coach Yasin Osman as technical director.

A win by Wanderers would push them to position nine and bullets top of the league table.
