Burundian registers illegally

Kanengo police in Lilongwe have arrested two people, a Burundian for illegally registering in the ongoing voter registration, and a Malawian for helping the Burundian to register. The two, Vikomana Enesta and Hosea Samisoni were arrested on Monday at Area 25A registration centre after police who were supervising the process questioned the foreigner. Kanengo Police spokesperson Esther Mkwanda said the Burundian came at the centre around 8am and managed to complete the whole process of registration while posing as a Malawian. “The police arrested him after they checked his ID name and realised it was not a Malawian name,” said Mkwanda. —RACHEL KACHALI, Staff Writer
