Bvumbwe Research FC are back in the race for the Standard Bank Cup Knockout, displacing Mafco FC who failed to get enough votes to be among the top five teams.

Bvumbwe, whom Mafco dislodged from the top-five bracket last week, have bounced back on fifth place after collecting 78 votes, just in time of the July 30 cut-off point for Standard Bank customers to vote for four teams.

The votes by the banks customers are correct as of Monday with Big Bullets still leading the race on 1,013 votes, followed by Azam Tigers on 636 votes.

On third position are Red Lions on 248 votes while Blantyre United are fourth with 189 votes, according to an update from the bank’s head of marketing Linda Kachingwe-Sisya.

“Competition draw will take place on August 3 at Chiwembe Technical Centre in Blantyre. Existing customers are encouraged to vote for their favourite teams after transacting and new customers are also entitled to vote each time they transact in our branches,” she said.

Four top teams will be selected by the customers to compete for the final spot in the Standard Bank Cup Knockout round of eight.

The teams that already qualified are Silver Strikers, Escom, Mighty Wanderers, Civo United, Moyale Barracks, Epac FC and defending champions, Blue Eagles.
