African champions Cameroon yesterday beat Morocco 1-0 in 2019 African Cup of Nations (Afcon) Group B qualifier at Omnisports Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium in Yaoundé.
The Indomitable Lions, who already qualified for 2019 finals as hosts, lead the group. However, since they already qualified, Malawi top the group as far as the battle for the group’s other slot for the 2019 finals is concerned.
Malawi beat Comoros 1-0 at Bingu Natioonal Stadium earlier through a Gerald Phiri Jnr goal. Later, Aboubakar Vincent Pate scored for Cameroon in the 29th minute in a match that kicked of at 4pm.
Malawi’s next qualifier is against Morocco on March 23 2018 while Comoros will host Cameroon the same day.
In Group K, Mozambique ended Zambia’s unbeaten record against the Mambas. A late goal from Stanley Latifo handed the Mambas precious three points in the battle for Cameroon 2019 Afcon qualification.
