Desante said during the event that the facility will be part of her project activities established to push youths to realise their dreams.

“My work will be to push youth in Malawi to realise their dreams. I have observed that Malawi has talent. I have seen naturally good swimmers in Nkhata Bay, whom if guided can win medals for Malawi in major events such as World Olympic Games. The facility will be used to expose that talent,” she said.

According to Desante, the facility will stalk a collection of materials for athletic events such as running, jumping, swimming, throwing and walking.

“We plan to have a multipurpose activities room that will be used by a number of sports union clubs for training sessions as well as the centre for a range of fitness classes.

“The room will also be available for members for personal fitness training and table tennis,” said Desante.

Athletics Association of Malawi (AAM) president Godfrey Phiri thanked Desante for coming forward to support the country.
