Capital Clippers, ABC Lady Lions lead Cezobal nominations

Central Zone Basketball League (Cezobal) has released nominees for the 2012 season awards with Capital Clippers and ABC Lady Lions sharing the top spot in the women’s league.

Cezobal will award the achievers tomorrow at Portuguese Club.

According to the league’s vice-chairperson Barlett Mafuleka, voting for the winners closes this afternoon.

Women’s league champions, Capital Clippers, and ABC Lady Lions top the list after being nominated in four categories.

In Most Valuable Player category, Memory Chipungu, Immaculate Ngosi (both of Clippers) and Nyasha (ABC Lady Lions) have been nominated. Cathy Makaniankhondo, Gertrude Mwandira and Daisy Mafuleka are competing for Rebounder of the Year Award.

In men’s league, Dan Zimba, Wanangwa Nyirenda and Lovemore Nyirenda have been nominated for MVP Award whereas Kondwani Mhone and Wanangwa Nyirenda are competing for Most Improved Player Award.

Rebounder of the Year Award has attracted Mphatso Zilemba, Vincent Ngosi and Adam Kara whereas Kondwani Mhone, Appleby Mtepa and Zaine Phoya have been nominated for Young Player Award.

In the veterans’ league, Kingsley Gwaza, Gift Ngombe and Davies Chikopa have been nominated for MVP.

The ceremony, which will be spiced by a bash, starts at 7pm. The entry fee is K500.
